Course Overview
This course establishes the conceptual, regulatory and strategic framework on which the rest of the programme is built. It covers the multilateral climate governance system (UNFCCC, Paris Agreement, NDCs, COP30 outcomes and NDC 3.0), the architecture of Chinese climate policy (the 30-60 targets, the 1+N policy, the 14th and 15th Five-Year Plans, the 2024 Energy Law, dual-carbon control), the world’s main carbon pricing systems (EU ETS, CN ETS, CCER, regional Asian markets), the European CBAM and its impact on Chinese exporters, and the resulting market opportunities and regulatory trends for the 2026-2035 horizon.
